ACADEMIC TUTORIAL ACADEMY

Our core educational program provides students with homework assistance and preparation for standardized tests. Using the Plato PLE, a research-based program that allows students to receive individualized assignments based upon the results of their assessments, we are able to offer our children subject-specific tutoring in reading, language arts and math. Students also participate in vocabulary development, current event discussion, academic-based games, project support, reading activities and free writing.

EDUCATIONAL ALLIANCE

Designed as a partnership between Raising Expectations and school administrators, teachers, counselors and parents, the Educational Alliance enables us to serve as advocates for our children. In addition to developing individualized academic support goals with input from teachers, this program allows us to help our parents develop a clear understanding of their child’s performance in school. Volunteers and staff complete school and home visits as needed to ensure a constant connection is maintained between home and school.

SUMMER PATHFINDER PROGRAM

Established as an antidote to the “summer slide” phenomenon that occurs when school ends, Summer Pathfinder provides students with opportunities to attend unique summer camp programs during the summer months. Past and current partners and activities in this program include Breakthrough Atlanta, Odyssey, Alliance Theatre Acting Camp and outdoor camping in the North Georgia Mountains, just to name a few.

BLACK HISTORY QUIZ BOWL

Event hosted by Raising Expectations encouraging youth in our program and in surrounding schools to learn about Black History through performances and a quiz bowl competition.

TAKE A STUDENT TO COLLEGE DAY

A weeklong event hosted by RE mentors designed to expose our youth to college and career related opportunities. Activities include shadowing mentors for the day on college campuses, sitting in on classes, filling out mock applications and attending interviews.
