Boys, Books & Brotherhood: “The Book That Changed My Life” Event | February 9, 2019

As a part of our 2018-2019 Boys, Books and Brotherhood project we are continuing our effort to motivate, encourage and energize middle and high school black boys around the power of literacy. This year we have added a new partner, Youth Authors Publishing. Together with our partners from the Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Raising Expectations’ middle and high school boys will work on creating their own books that will be published at the conclusion of the school year. The proceeds will turn into scholarships for each of the boys upon completion of high school and their continued engagement in RE programs.

We are in need of male volunteers to come out to share a story about a book that changed your life. You will have about 5-7 minutes to show and tell so to speak. We would like you to bring the book with you and share a powerful story of why it resonated with you, what was going on in your life and how you used it to propel you forward or help you get through a difficult time.
