Next month, our current cohort of REEP interns will be the first to complete the Real Estate Enrichment Program.
This two-year program, created in partnership with Stockbridge, exposes Raising Expectations high school juniors and seniors to the commercial real estate industry, equipping them with the tools they need to pursue opportunities in this thriving field.
Over the past two years, students have attended monthly workshops with industry leaders, taken numerous property tours, and participated in paid internships with REEP partner firms.
In 2022, they embarked on a Spring Break trip to Washington, D.C., where they toured Georgetown and Howard Universities along with D.C. landmarks, and visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Win-Win
It’s been wonderful to see the impact that this program has had on our students, and also the value that they’ve brought to the companies they’ve worked for.
“I felt immense pride when witnessing the students’ final case study presentations,” said Michael Henry of Stockbridge. “It was evident how much they had grown in their knowledge of real estate, as well as their overall presentation skills and self-confidence.”
Transwestern’s Kristine Maggio added that “being a partner with REEP and Raising Expectations allowed our entire Transwestern Atlanta team a chance to play a part in the programming for the interns…. It was a win-win and we look forward to our continued partnership.”
Having completed the program, each of our REEP interns is now eligible for a $20,000 scholarship funded by Stockbridge and partnering firms. To honor them, Stockbridge will hold a banquet in May with the program partners and funders in attendance.
Worth The Work
We cannot overstate how proud we are of our students. Taking on internships and additional workshops on top of their school and STEMWARE commitments is a lot, but they’re in an excellent position now to take advantage of a thriving industry that will continue to create opportunities for years to come.
Congratulations to our students, and many thanks to the funders and partners who have made this incredible program possible. We can’t wait to see how future classes will benefit from this amazing opportunity.
