Our students returned recently from their Spring Break trip to DC–part of the Real Estate Enrichment Program (REEP) with Stockbridge. For several of them, it was their first time flying on an airplane. They were accompanied by four of our lead team members, as well as mentors from Stockbridge. None of the students had ever visited the capital before, so in addition to exposing them to this vital part of our nation’s landscape, the trip allowed them to develop deeper relationships among themselves and with their Stockbridge mentors. They conducted a number of college and real estate property tours while they were there. In addition to the tours, they visited museums, participated in team-building activities, and were able to meet with other minority real estate students.
It’s exciting to engage with students after such an incredible trip. There is a new maturity that comes with having a broader life lens. They see themselves differently, and that change is evident in the presentations they give at our Saturday session. Students have a new appreciation for the work they’re doing with RE. Returning from the capital, they have a new sense of the doors that are opening for them, and are more focused than ever to walk through them.
